The fourth Sino-France Forum (SULRU'11), which was sponsored by Tianjin Social Science Federation, Tianjin University of Commerce, French endowment for the humanities and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), has been successfully held in Paris from July 3rd to 12th. Professor Qiu Licheng, the vice President of Tianjin University of Commerce, led a delegation attended the international conference.
In China, massive urbanization programs have changed the status of urban spatial layers, how to promote the efficiency of urban land resources' utilization is the critical problem to scholars. And Paris, a famous international metropolis, has many successful experience of urban land resource utilization. SULRU'11 provided an international forum for the international scientific/engineering community, experts, enterprisers and scholars to examine these challenges and to find effective solutions to ensure a sustainable process of urbanization and sustainable operation and management of urbanized areas.
During the meeting, Professor Jean-Luc Racine, vice President of French endowment for the humanities, gave congratulatory speeches and published an excellent speech about "new problems and countermeasures in the process of urbanization-- take Paris as an example". Vice President Qiu LiCheng exchanged views with Jean-Luc Racine on academic exchanges and cooperation between China and France. Professor Francois Gipouloux, the vice President as well as doctoral tutor of CNRS and Li Jiaxiang, secretary of City Association had their speech respectively.
The speech of "on the rural land system reform in the process of China's urbanization" presented by the vice president Qiu Licheng, has drawn widespread attention and acclaim on the scholars, government officials, and entrepreneurs between China and France. Pierre Veltz, an economist and the president of the French Bridge College, and Hubert Bonin, a doctoral supervisor of Bordeaux University sought advice from the emerging issues and problems on the rural land system reform in the process of China's urbanization. A large delegation that includes Wang Hong, director of the Social Science Department, Professor Bai Ling, dean of Economic Research Institute and Sun Yu, dean of Public Management School, accompanied President Qiu on the trip. They all felt the profitable trip spread more academic achievements of our university. And also they knew the dynamic foreland of the developed countries from the trip.
Since 2005, Tianjin University of Commerce has cooperated and co-sponsored Sino-France Academic Forum four times with Tianjin Social Science Federation, French endowment for the humanities and CNRS. The French side admired their great progress for what Tianjin social sciences academic research field had made. And they looked forward to next cooperation for the fifth forum in order to further promote academic cooperation and research between Tianjin and Paris, to achieve new leaps and bounds.
